Winter's End Bulb Mix – Yellow Winter Aconite & White Snowdrops
The first whispers of spring, cheerful golden blooms, and a little late-winter garden magic!
Just when winter feels like it might last forever, along comes our Winter's End Bulb Mix to remind us that spring is right around the corner!
This enchanting collection combines the sunny golden-yellow flowers of Winter Aconite (Eranthis) with the delicate, snow-white bells of Snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis). Together, these beloved early bloomers create a breathtaking display of color when the garden needs it most.
Among the very first flowers to emerge, Winter Aconite and Snowdrops bloom in late winter to very early spring, often pushing through chilly soil and even a dusting of snow. Their cheerful blossoms bring welcome color to woodland gardens, cottage garden borders, and naturalized plantings beneath deciduous trees.
And there's even more to love! Both varieties are generally deer resistant, cold hardy, and valuable to early-season pollinators when weather conditions allow bees to forage.
Perfect for woodland gardens, shaded borders, naturalizing, and early spring containers, Winter's End is a beautiful way to extend your garden's blooming season and welcome spring before most other flowers have even begun to wake up.

When & How to Plant Winter's End Bulbs
Plant in Fall for the Very First Flowers of Spring!
For a magical display of golden-yellow and snowy white blooms, plant your Winter's End Winter Aconite and Snowdrop bulbs in fall, before the ground freezes.
In Maryland and other Zone 6–7 gardens, September through November is generally a suitable planting window, with early fall planting especially helpful for these small bulbs.
Planting Instructions:
- When to Plant: Fall, ideally September through October or as soon as bulbs arrive.
- Planting Depth: Approximately 2–3 inches deep for both Winter Aconite tubers and Snowdrop bulbs.
- Bulb Spacing: 2–3 inches apart for a full, natural-looking display.
- Planting Position: Place Snowdrop bulbs pointed-end up. Winter Aconite tubers can be planted without a particular orientation.
- Sunlight: Partial sun to light shade, especially beneath deciduous trees.
- Soil: Rich, humus-filled, well-draining soil that retains some moisture during winter and spring.
- Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and maintain moderate moisture during active growth.
- Bloom Time: Late Winter to Very Early Spring, depending on local temperatures.
Important Planting Tip: Winter Aconite tubers and Snowdrop bulbs can dry out during storage. Plant promptly after receiving them. Some gardeners soak dry Winter Aconite tubers in room-temperature water for several hours before planting to help rehydrate them.
After flowering, allow the foliage to naturally yellow and die back before removing it. This helps the plants store energy for future blooms.
When planted in favorable conditions, both varieties may gradually naturalize, creating increasingly beautiful displays year after year.
Our Cottage Garden Tip
Create a magical carpet of late-winter color!
For an unforgettable early-season display, plant Winter's End bulbs in generous drifts of 25–50 or more, mixing the golden-yellow Winter Aconite with delicate white Snowdrops for a cheerful, natural look.
They're especially beautiful planted beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, where they can enjoy early-season sunlight before the branches leaf out.
Pair these charming early bloomers with purple crocuses, miniature daffodils, hellebores, and early spring primroses for a woodland-inspired cottage garden full of color and texture.
Maryland Gardeners: Winter Aconite and Snowdrops are wonderful choices for extending your garden's flowering season. In favorable Maryland conditions, they may begin blooming as early as February, depending on winter temperatures.
Important: Winter Aconite and Snowdrops are toxic if ingested. Keep bulbs and plants away from pets and children.
