Califlora Creative Art Bearded Iris Rhizomes – Purple & Yellow Reblooming Iris
Lavender-purple ruffles, rich plum accents, delicate golden-yellow edges, and a whole lot of cottage garden WOW!
If you've ever dreamed of growing a flower that looks like a beautiful watercolor painting, Califlora Creative Art Bearded Irisis about to steal your heart!
This extraordinary reblooming Bearded Iris is a true masterpiece of garden color, featuring breathtaking blossoms in a sophisticated combination of lavender-purple, deep plum, and soft buttery yellow.
Each magnificent flower begins with graceful lavender-purple upper petals, known as standards, that rise elegantly above the richly colored lower petals, called falls.
The falls are especially spectacular!
Deep plum-purple coloring surrounds the beards, gradually blending into softer lavender tones toward the center of each petal before finishing with beautiful light yellow margins.
The result is a remarkable, painterly display of color that looks almost too beautiful to be real.
Growing approximately 28–36 inches tall when in bloom, Creative Art creates a lovely display of elegant, ruffled flowers above attractive sword-like green foliage.
Its distinctive coloring makes it a wonderful choice for cottage garden borders, mixed perennial beds, Iris collections, and colorful mass plantings.
Blooming primarily from late spring into early summer, Creative Art adds rich color and romantic texture to the garden as the spring flowering season transitions toward summer.
And there's even more to love!
Creative Art is a reblooming Bearded Iris, with the potential to produce another flush of beautiful flowers later in the growing season under favorable conditions.
The supplier describes this variety as a reliable rebloomer in USDA Zones 5–10, although the timing and frequency of repeat flowering will depend on climate, plant maturity, and growing conditions.
These gorgeous blooms also make beautiful cut flowers, bringing their extraordinary purple-and-yellow coloring indoors for fresh bouquets and floral arrangements.
Best of all, Creative Art is a resilient perennial that becomes drought-tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for sunny, well-drained gardens.
Deer and rabbits also tend to avoid Bearded Iris, adding to their appeal for gardeners who want spectacular flowers with relatively little maintenance.
Whether you're creating a romantic cottage garden, designing a vibrant perennial border, or collecting unusual Iris varieties, Califlora Creative Art Bearded Iris rhizomes deliver breathtaking color, elegant texture, and unforgettable garden beauty.

When & How to Plant Creative Art Bearded Iris Rhizomes
Plant for a Spectacular Display of Purple & Yellow Spring Flowers!
For the most beautiful display of colorful, ruffled blooms, plant your Creative Art Bearded Iris rhizomes in a sunny location with excellent drainage.
Unlike tulips or daffodils, Bearded Iris grow from thick rhizomes that should be planted close to the soil surface rather than buried deeply.
In Maryland and other Zone 6–7 gardens, late summer through early fall is generally an excellent time to plant or divide Bearded Iris.
Planting Instructions
- When to Plant: Late summer to early fall is preferred, allowing roots to establish before winter. Spring planting is also possible.
- Planting Depth: Position the rhizome horizontally with its upper surface at or just above soil level. In hot climates, a very light covering may be appropriate.
- Rhizome Spacing: Approximately 12–18 inches apart to allow for mature growth and good air circulation.
- Planting Position: Spread the roots downward into the soil while keeping the rhizome near the surface.
- Sunlight: Full sun is best, ideally at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Partial shade may be tolerated.
- Soil: Fertile, well-draining soil. Avoid heavy, waterlogged conditions.
- Watering: Water after planting and periodically during establishment. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than keeping the soil constantly moist.
- Primary Bloom Time: Late Spring to Early Summer.
- Potential Rebloom: Late summer to fall when conditions are favorable.
After the main flowering period, remove spent flower stalks if desired, but leave healthy foliage in place so the plant can continue storing energy.
Keep the rhizome exposed to sunlight and avoid piling mulch directly over it, which can encourage rot.
Helpful Planting Tip: Bearded Iris perform best when their rhizomes are not crowded. Divide established clumps approximately every 3–5 years, or whenever flowering begins to decline.
Encouraging Creative Art Iris to Rebloom
Want another round of those gorgeous purple-and-yellow flowers?
Creative Art is valued for its reblooming potential, particularly in Zones 5–10. However, repeat flowering depends on several factors and may vary from year to year.
To encourage rebloom:
- Provide Plenty of Sunshine: Aim for at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
- Maintain Good Drainage: Avoid consistently wet soil or deeply buried rhizomes.
- Water During Extended Dry Spells: Although established plants tolerate drought, adequate moisture during active growth can help support rebloom.
- Avoid Excess Nitrogen: Too much nitrogen can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
- Allow Plants to Establish: Newly planted rhizomes may need time to mature before producing their strongest flowering displays.
- Divide Crowded Clumps: Give plants room to develop healthy rhizomes and flowering fans.
Rebloom is a wonderful bonus, but it should not be considered guaranteed in every garden or growing season.
Our Cottage Garden Tip
Create a colorful cottage garden that looks like a living watercolor painting!
For a breathtaking display, plant Creative Art Bearded Iris rhizomes in groups of 3–5 or more, allowing their magnificent purple-and-yellow blossoms to become the stars of your perennial border.
Pair Creative Art with soft lavender Bearded Iris, creamy white peonies, pale yellow perennials, or deep purple spring flowers for a romantic cottage garden combination.
Its unique coloring also looks especially beautiful alongside silvery-green foliage and soft pastel blooms.
Want a little more drama? Combine Creative Art with burgundy Iris varieties, violet-blue perennials, and golden-yellow flowers for a striking, jewel-toned garden display.
For a beautiful cutting garden, plant Creative Art alongside other Bearded Iris varieties in shades of pink, peach, lavender, and white.
Its richly colored blossoms make wonderful additions to fresh spring and early summer bouquets.
Maryland Gardeners: Creative Art Bearded Iris is well suited to many Maryland gardens when planted in a sunny location with excellent drainage.
Because Maryland summers can be hot and humid, provide good air circulation and avoid covering the rhizomes with thick layers of mulch. Proper planting depth and drainage help reduce the risk of rhizome rot.
Although Creative Art is described as a reliable rebloomer in Zones 5–10, the timing and reliability of a second flowering period in Maryland will depend on weather, moisture, plant maturity, and care.
Important: Iris rhizomes and other plant parts can be toxic if ingested and may irritate sensitive skin. Keep planting material away from children and pets.
