When & How to Plant Narcissus My Story Bulbs
Plant in Fall for a Romantic Display of Ruffled Spring Flowers!
For a spectacular show of soft white and peach-pink blooms, plant your Narcissus My Story bulbs in fall, once soil temperatures begin to cool and before the ground freezes.
In Maryland and other Zone 6–7 gardens, October through November is generally an excellent time to plant these hardy spring-flowering bulbs.
Planting Instructions
- When to Plant: Fall, typically September through November depending on your growing zone.
- Planting Depth: Approximately 5–6 inches deep, or about 2–3 times the bulb's height.
- Bulb Spacing: 4–6 inches apart.
- Planting Position: Place bulbs with the pointed end facing upward.
- Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade, with at least 4–6 hours of sunlight preferred.
- Soil: Fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter.
- Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and provide moderate moisture during active spring growth.
- Bloom Time: Mid-Spring.
After flowering, remove spent blooms if desired, but allow the foliage to naturally yellow and die back before trimming it. This helps the bulbs store energy for next year's flowers.
For the best long-term performance, avoid planting in areas that remain consistently wet, especially during summer dormancy.
Helpful Tip: Double daffodils have fuller, heavier blooms than traditional trumpet varieties. Planting them in a location protected from strong winds and heavy spring rain can help keep their beautiful flowers looking their best.
Our Cottage Garden Tip
Plant a little spring romance and let the ruffles steal the show!
For an unforgettable display, plant Narcissus My Story bulbs in generous groups of 10–15 or more. Their soft peach-pink centers and creamy white petals look especially beautiful when planted in natural drifts through cottage garden borders.
Pair these romantic double daffodils with blush pink tulips, blue grape hyacinths, white anemones, or soft lavender violas for a dreamy pastel spring garden.
They're also wonderful in cutting gardens, where their luxurious blooms add texture and elegance to fresh flower arrangements.
For a beautiful container display, plant My Story bulbs in a deep, well-draining pot and combine them with complementary spring flowers for layers of color and texture.
Maryland Gardeners: Narcissus My Story is well suited to Maryland's winter temperatures and can return for many seasons when planted in well-drained soil. Choose a sunny to partially shaded location and allow foliage to mature naturally after blooming.
Important: Daffodil bulbs and plants are toxic if ingested. Keep them away from pets and children.
